The Korean lunar calendar
Korean holidays such as Seollal and Chuseok, and many birthdays and memorial rites, follow the Korean lunar calendar published by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute. A month starts on the day of the new moon in Korean time, so a month can start one day later than in the Chinese calendar. Lunar New Year 1997 fell on 8 February in Korea and 7 February in China. FAQ
Is the Korean lunar calendar the same as the Chinese one?
Almost, but not always. The time zone difference means the first day of a month can differ by one day, as with Lunar New Year in 1997 and 2028. This tool uses the Korean calendar.
What range does it cover?
Solar dates from 31 January 1900 to 31 December 2050.
