Practice while watching the keyboard

The on-screen keyboard lights up the next key in red and names the finger that should press it. Capitals and shifted symbols also light up the Shift key on the opposite hand. This builds the habit of keeping your eyes on the screen and your hands on the keys. The practice checks which key you press, not which character appears, so it works whatever your input language is set to.

Keys, then words, then sentences

If you are new, start with the home row in Keys mode: left fingers on A S D F, right fingers on J K L and semicolon. The small bumps on F and J let you find the position without looking. Move on to the center, top and bottom rows, then capitals. Words mode builds flow between letters, and Sentences mode adds spaces and punctuation. Aim for 95% accuracy first; speed follows.

Modes for kids and seniors

Speed pressure does not help a child meeting a keyboard for the first time, or an older learner in a computer class. Kids mode shows larger letters, easy words and short rounds, and outlines the other keys that belong to the same finger. Seniors mode uses the largest letters and hides speed and time, so only accuracy counts. All practice text is written for this page or taken from traditional proverbs.
